This article aims to present the distinctions between internal and operational metrics and indicators.
Table of Contents
1. Internal metrics and indicators
Internal metrics and indicators are generated by your object creations within the solution.
The values of internal indicators (as well as their metrics) are calculated only if the block is present on a dashboard. If so, they are automatically calculated every night by the solution.
You cannot modify the formula of an internal indicator.
You can find the internal metrics and indicators in the toothed wheel⚙️ > Catalog > Internal Metrics or Internal Indicators.
You can view the history of values for these metrics and indicators by clicking on the "View Evolution" icon.
1. Operational Metrics and Indicators
Operational metrics allow you to retrieve values in customized indicators through the implementation of formulas.
You can find them in two different ways:
From the catalog:
⚙️ Toothed wheel > Catalog > Metrics or Indicators
From the Dashboard tab:
Dashboard > Metrics or Indicators
Indicators are calculated as follows:
- Operational indicator values are calculated regardless of their presence on a dashboard.
- The current value is calculated the first time you attempt to display that value.
- When I operate an indicator on a perimeter -> I enter data in "contributions" > metrics -> I notice that my indicator is updated.
- At the beginning of a new indicator period, we recalculate the indicator value based on the metrics entered or uploaded via API or connector, and save it.
- Entering metrics in contributions updates an indicator's value.
- During a period, it's possible to manually force the recomputation of an indicator: Dashboard > Indicator > Recompute indicator history
The value of an indicator on a dashboard is:
- Either that of the current period (if the calculation was manually triggered, for instance)
- Or that of the previous period.
